Information Technology Essentials

IT students working as computer Information Technology professionals need technical know-how in increasingly complex hardware and software applications, but they must also be creative thinkers and problem solvers able to develop the best solutions to meet customer needs. The Information Technology cluster focuses on all these necessary skills, and enables students to earn certification from industry leaders as well as early-college credit.


The Information Technology Essentials career pathway prepares students for advanced study in IT and for the first step in the Cisco career certification pathways.

Students learn how to install and configure switches and routers in local and wide area networks, troubleshoot problems and improve network performance and security. Students can graduate with up to 20 early college-credits from the Community College of Baltimore County.
