Principal's Corner
Dear Parent/Guardian:

Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year at New Era Academy!

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 3rd.

Your child has been assigned to New Era Academy for the 2019-2020 School Year. We are very excited to kick off this new school year with a variety of new partnerships and programs available to students and families. This year our school will become a Community School. We will offer the Baltimore Urban Debate League Club and Maryland Science Olympiad Club. Four student’s will be selected to participate in the Baltimore Ravens Leadership Institute. We are pleased to partner with the Time Organization to provide substance abuse counseling and mental health services. College Bound will continue to support student’s in the college application and FAFSA process. We will also continue to host the Healthy Heart Market and Food Pantry. Student’s within the Trans Tech Program will continue to work closely with our partner’s from the Baltimore Port Alliance and the United States Coast Guard. We will host open gym each morning from 7:30AM-8:20AM.

This year our school day will run from 8:30AM-3:20PM. Breakfast will be served from 7:45AM-8:25AM. First Period will begin promptly at 8:30AM. Each student is expected to be in uniform each day. The uniform remains the same: black or khaki bottoms and black or white school shirts. School shirts are now available in the main office for $15.00 or at Herman’s on Greenmount Avenue.

Night school will be offered for student’s needing course recovery. It will begin on September 10th. Recovery courses have already been added to students’ schedules. Classes will run from 3:30PM- 4:45PM on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s. Saturday School will begin September 14th for students who need to complete service learning hours or course recovery.

Please join us for Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 18th, at 5:30PM. I look forward to collaborating with your family this school year, as we work together to prepare student’s for college and/or post-secondary careers.

In Partnership,

Dr. Chanta Booker
